Once again, our friends over at Degustabox have dropped another box of edible goodies on our doorstep. It’s like a mini Christmas once a month. What could it be this time!  (And don’t forget to scroll to the bottom of the post for 50% off your first order!)

Lovely Superfruit Chews

As you might imagine from our posts, we are not a vegan or gluten free household. We have nothing against people who follow those dietary restrictions, but we love our meat and our bread. As a result, when I saw the Lovely Superfruit Chews boldly labeled as “VEGAN!!!!” I was very much expecting something bland in the course of attempting to be healthy. Well, I was wrong. These are great! They’re basically Starbursts, but since they come in fancy packaging, you have out permission to consider them a serving of fruit, and therefore, health food. They’re a little on the chewy side (although not so much that you’re going to lose a filling or anything), but they pack a delightful burst of intense, fruity sweetness that’s great for when you’re craving something a little sugary.

Numi Organic Tea Mini Sampler

I like iced tea in the summer, and occasionally drink a mug of tea in the winter if I’m feeling a bit chilly, but Liz is a full fledged tea junkie. As soon as the temperatures drop below 75, you’ll be hard pressed to find her without a mug of tea close at hand. Seriously. Watching a movie? Tea. Whipping up a batch of cookies? Tea. Out walking Waffles? Tea. In the shower? Tea. Skydiving? Well, you get the idea. So I pretty much only got to pull this sampler out of the box and read the label before she swooped in like a falcon to snatch it out of my hands. She has been enjoying it thoroughly. There’s a whole range of unique flavors, and she has yet to find one she hasn’t liked. Luckily, despite the fact that is 90 degrees today, she’s been able to enjoy it because the average office building in Houston is held at temperature somewhere between a meat locker and a skating rink. God bless air conditioning!

Tortilla Factory Low-Carb Tortillas

We love tacos. We have them at least once a week. Beef, chicken, fish, bring ‘em on! And quite frankly, if you are judicious with the filling, they can be pretty healthy. Nice lean protein with plenty of seasoning, topped with a lot of fresh veggies and salsa, it’s health food I tell you! Well, except maybe for the tortillas. Apparently, something made primarily of flour and fat isn’t “health food.” Fine. We’ve actually tried a few “healthy” tortillas in the past, and quite frankly, they were awful enough that I’d just as soon make a taco salad. But this Low-Carb offering actually does a pretty good job of delivering flavor without the associated guilt. Admittedly, they are not quite as light and fluffy as our homemade tortillas, but these are ready straight from the store, and give you a good dose of fiber and protein as they swaddle your lovely taco fillings. Would definitely recommend!

Hometown Bagel Chicago Style Bagel Chips

I have to admit, I’ve never been to Chicago.  I’ve walked, strolled, and sprinted all over O’Hare airport, but that’s as close as it gets.  So I was a bit surprised to see “Chicago Style Bagel” on any sort of packaging.  Everyone knows that bagels come from New York.  Every single one.  Those ones you get at the local grocery store?  Picked off of bagel trees in New York, and delivered to your town.  Fact.  That being said, these are pretty good.  I don’t know what it is exactly about bagel chips, but sometimes they just absolutely hit the spot.  Like when you’re looking for that intersection of bread, chips, and in my case, garlic!  Garlic bagels are amazing.  For me, they’re tied with everything bagels for the best selection.  But apparently they’re not the best choice if you’re going to be in close proximity to others.  Maybe they have a point.  These had a nice helping of garlic on them.  Not a problem in our household, but your co-workers might appreciate you waiting until you get home to dig in to this snack.
