I don’t know what is, but I swear that our friends at Degustabox are sending us food more frequently than once a month. Nib Mor Superfruit Chocolate Bars
Hard to go wrong with chocolate. And this particular offering comes with superfruit, so that means it’s healthy! The dark chocolate strikes a very nice balance of deep chocolate flavor with enough sweetness to keep it from becoming bitter. I particularly liked the blueberry option: for one, I just love blueberries, and second, this is not a combination I feel like I see a whole lot. Given how well it works here, I think that needs to change. It also came with the more traditional chocolate and cherry version, but I’d really recommend you try the blueberry presentation.
Brianna’s Rich Poppyseed Dressing
This salad dressing is a nice departure from your standard vinaigrette or ranch. It’s very rich and creamy, so keep that in mind before you go dousing your salad with it. But there’s a touch of sweetness, and the slight nuttiness of the poppyseeds. But aside from just dressing up your salad, this dressing can also be used to make a tasty and quick sauce for grilled fish. I have my brother in law to thank for this one: just mix this dressing and prepared wasabi to your preferred level of heat. Personally, while I am a wimp when it comes to peppers, I love the sinus clearing, eye watering burn of wasabi. But like I said, it’s up you. Serve atop grilled fish steaks like ahi, swordfish, or shark.
Bruce Cost Ginger Beer
I was very excited to see this can boldly declare that it was “spicy.” I find a lot of ginger beers are a bit sweeter than I like, without the fiery snap of ginger that makes them so nice in cocktails. Sadly, I would say that this one is a bit more mild than the can would suggest. However, if the ginger beer doesn’t bring the heat, a dash of chili powder certainly will. Hence this new concoction I threw together to share with you: the Tread Gingerly. Similar to a mule, it combines ginger beer with lime and vodka…but I used grapefruit vodka for some extra citrus, and a splash of St. Germaine and a pinch of chili to balance it all out. I think you’ll enjoy this combination of sweet, spicy, and tart!

- 2 oz Grapefruit Vodka (preferably Deep Eddy)
- ½ oz St. Germaine
- 1 oz Lime Juice
- 2 oz Ginger Beer
- ⅛ tsp Chili Powder
- Place all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with a couple handfuls of ice.
- Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds.
- Strain into glass. If you like more spice, rub the rim of your glass with lime juice and sprinkle chili powder on it.
